Navy ships return home after foreign visit
September 12, 2019The two Sri Lanka Navy ships that left home shores for a foreign visit returned to the Trincomalee port during the weekend (08th Sunday, September). The ships, ‘SLNS Sayura’ and ‘SLNS Nandimithra’ left on a foreign training tour to Bangladesh and Myanmar, last month (22 August).
Both ships had reached the Chittagong port in Bangladesh on 26th (August) and had remained there till the 29th. During this time the Sri Lankan Officer Under Trainees onboard the ships had visited the Bangladesh Naval Academy.
On their departure from Chittagong, the SLN ships had also involved in a Passage Exercise with their Bangladeshi counterparts.
‘Sayura’ and ‘Nandimithra’ had arrived at Yangoon harbour in Myanmar on the 01st of this month (September). During the stay in that country, the crew of both ships visited the MN 1st Fleet, Naval Training Command and National Village.
Subsequently, the two ships had left Myanmar upon completion of their tour on the 4th (September).
