Troops distribute plants of economic value to Northern communities
September 14, 2019Putting their weight behind the country’s development drive towards achieving sustainable economic standards and adding strength to the national green drive, the Sri Lanka Army once again facilitated the distribution of a large number of plants with economic value among the people in Kilinochchi region, recently.
Troops under Secuirty Forces- Kilinochchi, in coordination with the Hadabima Authority, distributed more than 2000 plants including Mango, Jak Fruit and Cashew among 300 civilians living in the region during a ceremony on the 09th, September.
On the same day, another event in Arasapurakulam, Poonaryn saw 120 local civilians being presented with such plants of economic value.
The Hadabima Authority had provided these quality saplings which included 200 Mango, 910 Cashew and 1150 Jak plants which were distributed among the local masses with the intention to encourage them to protect the environment while making a profitable economic investment which will bear fruit in the future and also provide a source of food for them.
Meanwhile, troops in Mullaithivu also distributed 500 coconut seedlings among the 250 deserving families in the region
