Navy cleans beach in view of ‘National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation Week’
September 18, 2019Putting its weight behind the ‘National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation Week’, the Sri Lanka Navy had organized a beach clean-up programme at the Galle Face in Colombo, on Tuesday (17th September).
The ‘National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation Week’ has been declared from 15th to 22nd September.
A large number of naval troops were seen involved in the cleanup programme to rid the popular beach front of the city, of garbage and plastic waste in order to maintain it as an environment friendly venue. Galle Face promenade is a popular public venue which draws in a large number of people from all corners of the country on a daily basis.
The Navy had taken measures to conduct similar programmes in all its Naval Command areas during the ‘National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation Week’.
