Mock operations to raid terrorists’ drug den
September 20, 2019Troops involved in the ongoing ‘Cormorant Strike X-2109’, rehearsed several mock operations raiding drug distribution locations of terrorists, on Thursday (19). One such mock operation was carried out to destroy a terrorist drug distribution unit at Iluppaikaddavali and their administrative unit at Narakamulla.
The raiding teams included Army Commandos, Navy Special Boat Squadron troops, Chinese, Pakistani and Malaysian troops and Air Force personnel had infiltrated the location at Iluppaikaddavali on the previous night before carrying out their mock operation at dawn the next day, using cache techniques and inherent long range patrol reconnaissance skills.
The mock operation at Narakamulla was carried out by Commando Regiment troops to destroy the main administration building of the terrorists and their logistics base.
On a previous mock operation launched on, Tuesday (17), Commando troops rescued flood victims affected by the flooding Maadu Ganga in Balapitiya. This exercise was conducted to develop Search and Rescue skills of the Commando Regiment troops.
Navy 4 R unit troops, Air Force Regimental Strike Force and the Maldivian Defence Force personnel also took part in this operation.
‘Cormorant Strike X – 2019’ is in progress with the participation of 2400 Army, 400 Navy and 200 Air Force personnel and over 100 military representatives and observers from a number of countries including Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Russia, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria and Zambia.
