Indian tri-service delegation visits Dalada Maligawa
June 17, 2019The Indian tri-service delegation that arrived to Sri Lanka on a reciprocal Army to Army expedition on Saturday (15 June) visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on Sunday (16). According to Army media, the 159 strong Indian tri forces delegation together with their spouses also made a stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage during their itinerary.
This project has been organized to further strengthened cooperation and understanding between the armed forces of Sri Lanka and India. A 162-member team of Sri Lankan Armed Forces members along with their spouses left to India on Saturday.
The Indian delegation, comprised of 95 Army, 32 Navy and 32 Air Force personnel is scheduled to visit a number of places in the island before returning home on Tuesday (18).
The Sri Lankan delegation visiting India is expected to pay homage to the sacred Bodhgaya on Sunday (16) and also visit several other places of intrests during their stay there.
High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka HE Mr Taranjit Singh Sandhu and, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, were present at the Katunayake International Airport to receive and send off both delegations on Saturday.
