SLAF Station Colombo organize 'A Friendly Nation for the Victory of Children' World Children's Day Celebration -2019

Celebrating the World Children’s Day, a special programme for children was held at the Rifle Green Grounds in SLAF Station Colombo, yesterday (01 October 2019). The programme was held under the patronage of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mayuri Prabhavi Dias, and with the participation of 790 children.

A number of activities including games such as game zone, bouncy castles, lion king theme area, air dog show were arranged for the children who had eagerly participated at the event.

Fifty three students from Vavuniya/Mahakach Chakodiya Government School were brought to Colombo with the view of affording them a memorable experience during their first visit to the main city of the country. Further, they were given an opportunity to visit the Air Force Museum at Ratmalana before arriving in Colombo to participate for the event.

Meanwhile, a special book donation programme was organized by the Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Station Colombo to present books for the underprivileged students of Nawagaththegama Ralapanawa Primary School. Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sumangala Dias presented the gift packs.

In line with the celebration, SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit organized the "Guwan Kekulu Siththam" art competition and valuable prizes and certificates were also awarded to the winners during the programme. Valuable gift packs and a plant sapling were presented by the Seva Vanitha Unit to every child who participated at the event.

Commanding Officer and officers from SLAF Station Colombo, Members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, officers and airmen of various Bases and Stations together with their families were also present at the event.
