President graces STF Passing Out ceremony
October 05, 2019President Maithripala Sirisena graced the Passing Out ceremony of the 76th basic course of the Special Task Force (STF), at the STF Training School in Katukurunda, today (05 October).
The President was received by the Acting IG, CD Wickramaratne upon his arrival at the venue, this morning.
Secretary to the Ministry of Defence General SHS Kottegoda (Retd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc was also present at the occasion.
50 Sub Inspectors, 183 Constables and 41 Women Constables joined the national service after completing training during the Passing out ceremony.
The President presented certificates and trophies to the personnel who had excelled during training.
During his visit to the Training School the President paid floral tribute at the War Hero monument before proceeding to declare open the newly established Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Explosives Protection Operations Observation National Centre.
A parachute show was also carried out during the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony the President said that the Special Task Force has a high regard and confidence of the public and also appreciated its role in maintaining security and peace in the country.
Religious dignitaries, Commandant of the STF, Senior Inspector General of Police, MR Latheef, senior state officials, Tri Forces and Police officers and family members of those passing out were also present at the occasion.
