Army handover 150.15 More Acres in Kilinochchi to public without Compromising Security Interests
October 18, 2019Making his first visit upon his assumption as the Army Chief, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army attended a brief ceremony at the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), to formally release one more land amount of 150.15 acres, state and private, today morning (18 October).
The Kilinochchi land release, was carried out without compromising National Security interests, to be in line with the Presidential Secretariat’s policy of releasing land that does not belong to the security forces in the North and East since durable peace has dawned.
Accordingly, 139.56 acres of state land and 10.59 acres of private land, used by 57 Division and 3 Gajaba Regiment troops in Kilinagar Grama Seva sector of the Karachchi Divisional Secretariat and in Ampakamam Grama Seva sector in the Oddusuddan Divisional Secretariat area were formally handed over by the Commander of the Army to Mr S Arumainayaham, Kilinochchi District Secretary and Mrs R Ketheeswaran, Mullaittivu District Secretary during this ceremony.
Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi and Senior Military Officers were also present at the occasion.
