Army assists Northern students
October 23, 2019With the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination round the corner, the Sri Lanka Army has commenced to conduct educational assistance programmes for the children who are getting ready to face this important examination in December.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka Army troops in Mullaithivu, facilitated the conduct of a two-day G.C.E (O/L) seminar at Puthukkuddiyirippu Central College, last week (17th and 18th). More than 900 students attending the seminar on both days were benefitted by lectures on English, History, Science and Mathematics subjects conducted by qualified instructors.
The Army also made sure that the welfare of the students attending the seminar are met by providing them with breakfast, lunch and refreshments. In addition, the Instructors conducting the seminar were presented with special allowances.
Meanwhile, a programme to donate coconut seedlings and bicycles for deserving families and school children in Jaffna was held at the Karugampanai Cultural Centre, Jaffna, last Sunday (20).
