Troops carry out community assistance programmes in the Northern region
June 10, 2019A house and 18 sanitary units constructed by Sri Lanka Army troops in Jaffna were handed over to beneficiary families during a ceremony held in Kadduwan, last week (07). These facilities were constructed by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) under its ongoing humanitarian assistance project for construction of sanitary facilities and houses with financial assistance from Anandians' '82-Group' in Colombo.
Meanwhile, Army troops under Security Force Headquarters, Mullaittivu under took several irrigation, agricultural and public awareness programmes, last week (03) in keeping with the 'Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu' national development project.
Troops together with the locals cleaned the bund of the Thannimuruppu irrigation tank. A group of students also joined to clean the banks of the Sinnaru lagoon and the beach areas. A tree planting prograame was carried out to plant Kumbuk, Kohomba and Rosia saplings in the Mullaittivu town.
Troops also assisted to conduct a drug prevention and awareness programmes at the Puthukudirippu Maha Vidyalaya and Mulliyaweli Maha Vidyalaya to coincide with the national drug eradication drive.
