Troops join with civilians to clean irrigation canal
October 27, 2019Sri Lanka Army troops in the North joined hands with the civilians to clean and regularize the water flow in the Kanagarayan Aru, on Monday (21). The canal carries irrigation water from the Iranamadu Tank and is a major canal feeding the farmlands there.
With the monsoonal rains set to begin the canal was cleaned as precautionary measure to ease the water flow and stop overflowing. Deputy Director of the Kilinochchi Irrigation Office and his Staff, employees at Kandawali Divisional Secretariat and other participants also rendered supported to this programme.
Meanwhile, Army troops distributed 300 cashew saplings among the civilians in the Pllavarayankaddu, Solainela villages in keeping with the 'Thruliya Wenuwen Api' project of the Army. The programme was held on Tuesday (22).
