Troops clear blocked roads and restore vehicular movement

With the adverse weather condition presently prevailing over the island bringing in more rains over most parts of the country, the day to day lives of the people have been affected in numerous ways. Localized floods and landslides have caused disruption to life. Landslides have cut off vehicular movement along certain main roads in the hill country.

Troops of the Sri Lanka Army under Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-Cen) rushed to provided assistance to clear two main roads being blocked by landslides Badulla district on Sunday (27). According to Army media, troops were deployed to clear a huge boulder that had fallen from a mountain and completely cutting off traffic movement along the Kumbalwela-Ella main road.

Similarly, troops were also deployed to clear a part of the Badulla - Colombo main road near Haputale which had been blocked due to trees falling across the road.
