Air Force and Navy green efforts recognized at Presidential Environmental Award – 2019
October 30, 2019The Presidential Environmental Awards -2019 ceremony was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Nelum Pokuna Theater in Colombo on Tuesday (29 October 2019).
The Sri Lanka Air Force Academy in China Bay, Trincomalee was presented with the Gold Award for the Public Sector – Best Government Institution that contributes to the environment at the awards ceremony.
According to SLAF media, this is the first time, Air Force since establishing its policy on environment, has received a Presidential Gold Award for Environment Protection.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Navy’s projects operated under the " Neela Haritha Sangramaya" at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee was also recognized at the Presidential Environment Awards.
Organized by the Central Environmental Authority, the Presidential Environmental Awards recognizes public sector organizations, industries and individuals that have demonstrated environmental friendly attitudes and have made significant efforts towards a pollutant-free environment through sustainable practices.
