Prosthetic limbs provided to deserving people in the Northern region
November 01, 2019A group of underprivileged disable civilians living in the Northern region became the beneficiaries of a Sri Lanka Army initiative, to provide artificial limbs to deserving people, during a ceremony held on Thursday (30 October).
According to Army media, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), had facilitated the distribution of 30 prosthetic limbs among the needy people there with the sponsorship of Centre for Handicapped in Kandy. These artificial limbs worth over Rs. 2 million rupees were made available by the sponsors after a request of the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni.
Beneficiaries were selected after consultations with state officials and Civil Affairs Officers of respective Army formations.
This is another community welfare project carried out by Army troops to uplift the living standards of the backward communities in the Northern region.
