President declares open Navy produced RO water treatment plant at the Institute of Theravada
November 16, 2019A Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant installed by the Sri Lanka Navy at the International Institute of Theravada in Karuwalagaswewa, Anamaduwa was declared open by the President on Friday (15 November). According to Navy media, the RO plant installed by the Navy will benefit the large number of devotees patronizing the International Institute.
Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army and Navy were present at the occasion.
The navy has produced and installed a large number of such water treatment plants around the island especially in areas where Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is widespread. This project is mainly sponsored by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease while many public and corporate sector entities and even individual philanthropists have extended support to this worthy national cause.
Members of the Maha Sangha, state officials and a large number of local residents were also present at the opening ceremony.
