6th Asia-Pacific Symposium concludes successfully
November 22, 2019The 06th Asia-Pacific Symposium concluded successfully at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo on Thursday (21st November 2019). The three-day symposium, organized by the Sri Lanka Navy and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was attended by twenty-six naval officers from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Timor East, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, states Navy media.
The symposium was held under the theme of Law of Naval Warfare (International Humanitarian Law). It had provided a venue for naval officers of the countries routinely engage in various types of maritime operations, including operations against maritime terrorism, anti-narcotics, counter-piracy, counter human smuggling, prevention of IUU fishing, prevention of maritime pollution and maritime border protection to discuss the issues and challenges in international rules of naval warfare and enforcement of the law.
