President Rajapaksa starting a state visit to India reaches New Delhi
November 29, 2019President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who left the country in the afternoon for a two day state visit to India reached New Delhi this evening (28).
President Rajapaksa and his delegation were received by India’s State Transport and Highways Minister Dr. V.K.Singh at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India Austin Fernando and the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Tharanjit Singh Sandu were also present on the occasion.
The reception to Sri Lanka’s President included a clourful cultural event.
President Rajapaksa is in India in his first visit abroad, following an invitation from the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his election to office this month.
While in New Delhi, President Rajapaksa will meet Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and hold bilateral talks with the Indian Prime Minister. He will also meet with other Indian dignitaries as well.
President Rajapaksa is accompanied by Dr. P.B. Jayasundara, Secretary to the President, Ravinath Aryasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Foreign of affairs, S.Atygala, Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Lalith Weeratunga, Honorary advisor to the President and Mr. Sugeeshwara Bandara, Personal Secretary to the President.
