Secretary pays homage to the Sacred Relics at Kandy
November 30, 2019The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil visited kandy to pay homage to the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth), today (30 November 2019 ). The Secretary was received by the Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa, Nilanga Dela Bandara and was accompanied to the inner chamber for the religious formalities.
Subsequently, the Secretary called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwattte Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero, the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero and the Chief prelate of the Ramangna Chapter Most Venerable Napana Pemasiri thero and received their blessings.
Later, the Secretary also visited the Gatabe Raja Maha viharaya and obtained blessings.
This is the new Secretary's first visit to the Dalada Maligawa since assuming office as the Secretary of Defence on 20th November 2019.
