Defence Secretary visits Defence Services Command and Staff College
December 07, 2019Defence Ministry Secretary Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne visited the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), today (07 December).
The Defence Secretary was accorded a drive pass upon his arrival and respectfully received by the Commandant DSCSC, Maj. Gen. Prabath Dematanpitiya.
This is the first official visit undertaken by the Secretary to the Defence Services Command and Staff College since assuming office as the Secretary of Defence.
During his visit, the Defence Secretary took time off to talk with the members of the staff and specially the student officers including several foreign students.
He also left some compliments in the DSCSC visitors’ book.
Mementos were also exchanged during the occasion.
DSCSC, the prestigious seat for advanced defence studies in Sri Lanka was inaugurated as the Army Command and Staff College (ACSC) on March 16, 1998 with the first course consisting of 26 student officers. At present, 158 local and foreign student officers from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, and Sri Lanka Air Force are graduating with greater emphasis on joint environment. The DSCSC is under the purview of the Defence Ministry.
