Air Force helicopter rushed to contain fire at Muthurajawela
January 03, 2019An Mi - 17 helicopter of the Sri Lanka Air Force was rushed to assist in a firefighting operation to contain a fire that had broken out at the Muthurajawela Reserve in Negombo recently. According to Air Force media, the Mi -17 of the No 6 Squadron had been dispatched for the firefighting mission by the Air Force after a request in this regard was made by the Disaster Management Centre.
The helicopter, equipped with a 2400 liter Bambi Bucket had to make 8 Bambi operations before returning to base.
