Bicycles for Jaffna students
January 03, 2019Ten (10) deserving students in Jaffna were the proud recipients of new bicycles during a ceremony held in view of the New Year, earlier this week. According to Army media, Sri Lanka Army troops in the North beginning the New Year on a note of reconciliation took measures to gift ten new bicycles to deserving students in the region.
The bicycles were gifted to the students during a brief ceremony by the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi. This incentive will greatly ease these young ones' commute between their school and homes in remote locations in the Peninsula.
Meanwhile, the 'Carnival and the Musical Extravaganza' organized by Security Forces - Jaffna that began on 28th (December) had managed to draw large crowds during the three-day period. The programme was held near the famous Jaffna Fort.
