Tri-forces and Police work collectively to ensure security - Acting CDS Lt.Gen. Shavendra Silva

Acting Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva pledged to ensure security of the country and its people to the maximum in compliance with the vision of the President and Commander in Chief of armed forces Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Lt. Gen. Silva, speaking to reporters after assuming duties at his office today   assured to provide full assistance to tri-forces, Police and the Civil Security Department (CSD) to execute their duties.

“Trend of the world’s Armed Forces today is not to operate in isolation but to work with all forces. With guidance of President Rajapaksa and the Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. Kamal Gunaratne, I am fully committed to work towards ensuring security by bringing tri-forces, Police and the CSD together,” he said.

He reminded of how tri-forces and the Police had been working with mutual cooperation in the past.

A traditional military ceremony with a tri- force Guard of Honour had been organized to receive the acting CDS at the BMICH.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General Mahinda Mudalige, Commander, Security Forces - West, Major General M.A.A.D Sirinaga, Quarter Master General at Army Headquarters, Major General C.M.D.P Chandrasekera, Master General Ordinance at the Army HQ, Major General P.J Gamage, Military Secretary at the Army Headquarters and several tri-force officers attended the occasion.
