Two more houses for Jaffna families
January 04, 2019Two houses built by the Sri Lanka Army troops were presented to two deserving families in Jaffna on Wednesday (02 January). According to Army media, the houses were presented to the two families living in Katkolam and Alvai areas in the Jaffna Peninsula.
The Army troops were able to complete this social welfare initiative with the support extended by Ven Thalagala Sumanarathana Nayake Thero, Incumbent of the Thalagala International Buddhist Meditation Centre, Horana and Mr Rod Thambiah.
The houses were built within three months with the technical expertise of the Army troops in Jaffna. In addition to large scale housing projects Army troops also render their valued labour, technical and expert support to build individual houses for deserving families.
The house handing over ceremony was attended by Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi, Divisional Secretary, Vadamarachchi, Mr Alvai Pillai Sri, senior Army and state officials.
