Sri Lanka Urges Middle East to Maintain Peace
January 07, 2020Foreign Relations Ministry states today that the Government is deeply concerned about growing tensions in the Middle East following the assassination of a senior Iranian leader Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s top security and intelligence commander.
Issuing a statement Sri Lanka urges all parties to act with utmost restraint and maintain peace and security through constructive dialogue in order to
de-escalate the threat to the stability of the region.
Maj.Gen.Suleimani was killed on last Friday in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport, according to media reports.
