Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris assumed duties as VC of KDU
January 17, 2020Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris RWP RSP USP LOM ndc psc MPhil(Ind) PGDM, who is an eminent senior officer of the Sri Lanka Army, assumed duties as the new Vice Chancellor (VC) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on January 16, 2020.
A colourful and grand parade of honour was held to welcome the newly appointed KDU's VC Maj. Gen. Peiris, who is also the Rector of Southern Campus.
Deputy VC (Defence and Admin) Brig. Adeepa Thilakarathne, Deputy VC (Academic) Brig. Nanda Hathurusinghe, Senior Professor Jayantha Ariyarathne, Deans of the KDU, officers of the Tri-Forces, academic and non-academic staff members of KDU, cadet officers and day-scholars participated in this event.
Maj. Gen. Peiris has been appointed as the KDU's VC for the second time. During his previous tenure as the KDU's VC from December 28, 2008 to February 18, 2016, he was instrumental in transforming KDU to be a well-recognized university in the region.
