Presidents promotes 244 Army officers
February 04, 2020A total of 244 Army officers have been promoted to their next ranks by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. According to Army media, 17 Brigadiers have been promoted to the Rank of Major General.
The list of officers promoted includes 45 Lieutenant Colonels to the Rank of Colonel, 49 Majors to the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel and 42 Captains to the Rank of Major. Further, 80 Lieutenants have been promoted to the rank of Captain and 11 2nd Lieutenants to the Rank of Lieutenant.
The promotions have been given in keeping with the 72 Independence Day celebrations and can be considered as the largest ever collective promotions given in the Army to date.
