New house for needy woman in Wanni
January 08, 2019A needy woman living in a remote village in the Wanni region became the beneficiary of a new house constructed under a welfare initiative of the Sri Lanka Army. According to Army media, Ms. R Rasamalar, a resident of the remote Kurumankadu village was presented with a new house during a ceremony, held last week (03 January).
The house was built by the Army with the 'Sadhaham Suwa' Buddhist Association in the Vavuniya General Hospital providing required building materials for the project. The decision to build a house to this helpless woman who is a chronic patient and didn't have a proper place to live was made by the sponsoring Association after her plight was brought to its notice. The Association in turn had sought Army's assistance for this worthy project.
The house was presented to the beneficiary during a ceremony attended by religious dignitaries, state officials, military officers and representatives of the donor agency.
