Curfew re-imposed to restrict people’s movements - Acting IGP C.D.Wickramaratne

  •   Curfew to continue till Friday

Strictly prohibiting travel between all districts in the country, the Police curfew, which is in force in Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam districts and the Northern Province will be lifted at 6 am tomorrow (24) and it will be re-imposed at 12 noon on the same day and will continue until 6 am on Friday (March 27).

According to Police, curfew in other areas will be re-imposed today at 2 pm and it will continue until 6 am on Thursday (26) and will be re-imposed at 12 noon on the same day

Issuing a statement acting IGP C.D.Wickramaratne said measures had been taken to re-impose curfew to prevent people from violating the regulations and provisions of Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 or new coronavirus.

The statement stated that while farming activities are allowed to continue even during curfew hours, transporting tourists from place to place is banned. However, transportation of rice and other essential items and vegetables is permitted.
