Educational assistance for flood affected children in Kilinochchi
January 10, 2019More than 800 children from the flood effected areas in the Kilinochchi region were provided with school bags and stationeries during a ceremony held on Monday (07 January). The educational assistance for these children who were affected by the recent floods in the region was facilitated by the Sri Lanka Army in collaboration and directions of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Disaster Management Center and Dialog Axiata PLC.
The donation of bags and stationery items worth more than Rs. 1.55 million was distributed among a total of 838 school going children living in the flood affected areas. The distribution ceremony was held at the Dharmapuram Central College in Kilinochchi.
Commander Security Force Kilinochchi, Major General Ralph Nugera, officials of the Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Disaster Management and sponsor agency representatives were also present at the occasion.
