Navy renovates Infectious Diseases Unit at District General Hospital – Vavuniya
March 26, 2020The Navy renovated the Infectious Diseases Unit of the District General Hospital in Vavuniya. The initiative is an extension of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to support the nationwide campaign against spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
The effort intends at increasing capacities of regional and district hospitals in receiving and treating possible patients contracted with COVID -19.
According to the navy, the construction work began on 23rd March, involving a group of civil engineers attached to the Western Naval Command on directives given by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
Further, renovation work was undertaken under the supervision of the Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Lalith Dissanayake.
