SLAF drones to combat the deadliest insect

In a bid to support the national drive mooted to curb the spread of dengue fever within the Western Province, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) received two drone cameras from the Western Province Governor, the Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke yesterday (Feb 18).
The SLAF Commander, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana received the worthy donation at the Air Force Headquarters yesterday (Feb 18).
Drones would be deployed to trace the dengue breeding grounds and also to observe the aerial spraying of liquids in breeding prone areas, the SLAF Spokesperson Group Capt. Dushan Wijesinghe said.
New technology would also facilitate authorities to collect aerial footages for analyses and to map the breeding sites.
Further, those could be utilized to safeguard the national security when required, Group Capt. Wijesinghe also said.
Western Province Chief Secretary Jayanthi Wijethunga, Western Province Governor Secretary P Somasiri and Senior SLAF officers were also present at the event.
